A look at the important stages of manufacturing

The Expert's Eye :

Before it can receive L’Aiglon’s signature, each skin is carefully examined, scrutinised and analysed. Then comes the most delicate stage – the incredibly intricate stage of joining the leather. Enormous skill is required to match the patterns in each piece of leather. No machine can do this – everything depends on the skill and the precision of the team of workers, who are experienced in “making the invisible visible”, and creating the illusion of one single piece of leather.

The Caress :

L’Aiglon only uses the best twine for its hand-made belts. First of all, it is coated with colourless wax in order to be stitched more smoothly. The craftsman puts the two sides of the belt together in the saddle maker’s wooden vice, and stitches them together firmly. Once the work is finished, he will patiently polish the belt with its soft sueded lining.

The Zero Edge :

L’Aiglon is innovative and has invented many special techniques, including the “Zero Edge”, which remains unequalled and which is the envy of many. Obtaining a fine line at the edges of a belt requires great skill. This method allows the whole length of the belt to be guided with precision.

Ariane's Thread :

L’Aiglon’s woven belts are yet another example of the company’s great creativity. Multicoloured leather threads are expertly interwoven by agile hands, using a wooden loom. The weaving can be plaited or straight. “Ariadne’s thread” represents real technical progress. Again, nothing beats equals hand-made comfort. L’Aiglon offers a range of more than 50 colours, which can be woven to your own design. “One keyword – Quality. Constant quality control means that L’Aiglon can be proud of its know-how and traditions.”
